M.E.N. readers have sent their messages of support to the Royal Family after The Queen was placed under medical supervision at Balmoral. The Queen’s immediate family members have been informed after doctors became concerned for the monarch's health.
Following this afternoon's announcement, well-wishers have sent messages of support to the Royal Family on the Manchester Evening News' Facebook page.
Gail Naylor said: "Our Queen has served this country most of her life. She has been neutral in matters of government, represented the UK to the best of her ability and brought this country much tourism.
"The World respects her as do a majority of her subjects. Let us hope she fights herself to good health and has a speedy recovery."
Hayley Jepson added: "Sending love and prayers to the queen. And my thoughts are with the royal family.
"She is an amazing lady and I can’t imagine how losing prince Philip has affected her. I do hope prince Harry goes to see his grandma and all the family respect him whilst doing this."
Denise Thomas posted: "I do hope our Queen recovers her health, she has had a trying time this last year or so, losing Phillip, the problems with Prince Andrew and Harry and Megan too, it has been such a strain for her, I wish her well.
Meanwhile, Shell Parsons said: "I think people underestimate how close and just how much she depended on Phillip and how losing him must have affected her. Bless I hope she is ok."
Janet Metcalfe added: "Stay strong my beautiful Queen Elizabeth sending love to an amazing lady. God keep you safe and well."
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have travelled to Balmoral, Clarence House said. The Duke of Cambridge is also travelling to Balmoral, Kensington Palace said.
The nation’s longest-reigning monarch has ongoing mobility issues and looked bright but frail and used a walking stick during Tuesday’s historic audience with new Prime Minister Liz Truss, which followed a visit from outgoing PM Boris Johnson as he tendered his resignation.
A day later, the 96-year-old head of state pulled out of a virtual Privy Council after doctors ordered her to rest. Following today's announcement, Prime Minister Liz Truss said: “The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime.
“My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.”
