M&Co website to be relaunched next month with new app 'coming soon'

The new owner of fashion brand M&Co is planning to relaunch its website after buying it out of administration earlier this year.

AK Retail which also owns Yours Clothing, BadRhino, PixieGirl, and Long Tall Sally is set to launch the website at the end of June, followed by an app later on.

The new website will initially launch to sell a small range of womenswear products - with plans to expand and sell further categories in the "near future".

The first products available on the new M&Co site will include M&Co curve and petite collections.

AK Retail boss Andrew Killingworth shared that he had "big plans" for the M&Co brand.

Killingworth explained that M&Co had held a "strong reputation" as a local family brand that customers trusted to find high quality clothing at an affordable price.

He said AK Retail were "committed to maintaining these values" and was planning to build upon "M&Co’s strong legacy".

He added: "We have big plans for the brand, with an immediate focus on M&Co’s digital presence, with our brand-new site set to launch at the end of June 2023, and an app coming soon.

"M&Co has enormous potential, and we are excited to bring our expertise and experience to the table.

"We want to ensure that M&Co continues to be a beloved and trusted brand for generations to come."

The fashion retailer fell into administration for the second time in two years at the start of December last year but were saved when the brand and intellectual property were sold to AK Retail Holding in February.

Sadly, the deal did not include its physical stores which means all 170 were going to close - which put 1,910 jobs at risk.

All the remaining M&Co stores closed last month.

This was another blow to the declining British high street which has been struggling to keep its presence in communities over the last 10 years.

However, another popular high street fashion chain was reportedly looking to open more stores in the old M&Co sites.

The fashion business magazine Drapers reported that Peacocks had made offers "on a considerable number of stores".

One "property insider," told Drapers magazine that Peacocks was looking to take over some of M&Co's "better trading stores".

As of March 2023, there are around 340 Peacocks retail stores across the UK.

Peacocks declined to comment on the plans when asked to comment by The Mirror.
