Lyle Taylor makes 'honest' Nottingham Forest admission following Birmingham City transfer

Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor opened up on his struggles at the club after sealing a loan move to Birmingham City for the rest of the season.

The 31-year-old has reunited with Lee Bowyer, his former manager at Charlton Athletic, as he bids to get his career back on track after scoring just eight goals in 61 appearances for the Reds.

Taylor admitted that his time at the City Ground has not gone as well as he wanted, but is hoping to turn the page with Birmingham during his short spell with the Second City outfit.

"The last couple of years haven't been fantastic from a footballing point of view, from a point of view of playing games, and that's just me being honest," he told Birmingham City's official website.

"I can only be honest, but I made the decision to go to Nottingham Forest. I had all of the information at my disposal when I made that decision, so I can't sit here and say that I would have chosen something else.

"I made that decision myself. Has it worked out, has it not worked out? I'm not sure, but I'm here to play games and win as many games of football I possibly can."

He added: "I've got good memories of playing at St. Andrew's this year, and that's from an away team point of view. I'm sure the fans will forgive me for that.

"I'm looking to create my own memories that I can take with me for years and years to come from here going forwards."

Taylor had fallen down the pecking order at the City Ground following the arrival of Keinan Davis from Aston Villa and the form of Lewis Grabban.

Blues are 18th placed in the Championship on 32 points after eight wins, and he could be in contention to start at Pride Park when Bowyer's side face Derby County this weekend.

Upon his arrival at the West Midlands club, he left a message to the Reds faithful on Instagram: "Thank you Reds. Good luck for the rest of the season."
