Edinburgh locals will be able to spot red carpets across Waverley station soon as one of the world's poshest trains comes to the capital.
The so-called “zombie” train will be coming to the city on July 15 and will give people a chance to experience a journey on the Northern Belle, which was once part of the iconic Orient Express Group.
However, there are no undead on this train. Zombie is just the nickname given to the class of diesel locomotive that’s used to haul the stunning 1930s-style Pullman carriages.

The Northern Belle will depart Glasgow Central at 11.30am on July 15 and will stop to pick up more passengers from Waverley station at 1.10pm.
The trip will set guests back £310 for a journey that will meander through the Scottish countryside for six hours as passengers enjoy a seven-course lunch complete with champagne and wine.
It will even feature strolling musicians through the carriages and a tableside magician aboard for people to enjoy.
Despite the exorbitant price, tickets have already sold out for the trip- selling out all their tickets within weeks of going live.
However, hope is not lost for Edinburgh locals who would like to enjoy this opportunity. The train will be back in August for a journey to Inverary Castle and then again in early December for a magical Christmas lunch trip.
The train featured on Channel 5’s “World’s Greatest Railway Journeys” programme last year when actor Bill Nighy described it as “the Grand Duchess of luxury travel”.
A spokesman for the Northern Belle admitted: “I’m not sure why these locomotives are called Zombies. I think it was because they were rebuilt from older engines.
“But don’t worry – there’s nothing scary about them! This will be no night of the living dead!”
