When it’s too hot to know what to wear, you can’t go wrong with floaty, loose-fitting linen blends - and River Island has got you covered with a stylish co-ord that's perfect for mix and matching.
Coming in a range of summer shades and easy-to-wear neutrals, it’s the ultimate summer uniform for keeping cool while still looking put-together and on trend.
The high street favourite shared an ‘ode to watermelon sugar’ pairing the pink version of the shirt and shorts look with a green bandeau top, racking up hundreds of likes with shoppers writing: “Love, love, love these co-ords” and “How lush is this.”

The oversized shirt with linen comes in at £29, and is available in black, stone and white for the neutral fans, as well as blue, pink and yellow for the dopamine dressers. The linen-blend fabric shirt offers an oversized fit, chest pocket and button fastening for a loose and effortless look.
Shoppers can pair the shirt with the shorts with linen for £25, however, not all of the same shades are available. The shorts - which feature an elasticated waist perfect for those all-inclusive holiday breakfasts - come in stone, black, white, blue and pink, but no yellow, with the addition of a vibrant green.
Meanwhile, there’s also a pair of matching wide leg trousers which cost £35, available in stone, pink and blue, with a fresh lime hue to keep things bang on trend for summer 2023.
All of the mix and match pieces come in sizes XS to L, but the elasticated waist and loose fit allow you to be a bit more flexible with the sizing.
Linen is one of the best fabrics to wear for summer, according to Shadmaan Kader, the manager of Poundametre.
They said: “When it comes to summer fashion, comfort and style are key, and lightweight fabrics such as these can provide both. Whether you're planning a day out in the sun or attending a summer soirée, be sure to incorporate some of these light and airy fabrics into your wardrobe for a stylish and comfortable summer season.
“Linen is a popular summer fabric that is breathable. It has a slightly rougher texture meaning it gives a casual, relaxed feel, and is super absorbent, which makes it a good choice for hot, humid weather.”
The retailer’s Linen Midi Dress has also proven popular after being featured on the Liverpool Echo, selling out in black and almost selling out the beige, too.
Stradivarius also have a range of affordable linen blend shirts available for £22.99, with 14 colours and striped patterns to choose from with a slightly larger size range including XS to XL. There are also some linen blend shorts, but they don’t have the same comfortable elasticated waist as River Island’s version.
