The price of butter has risen by a staggering amount in the past year.
The ingredient is a staple in many kitchens with so many versatile uses. But the golden spread is becoming more costly with prices jumping up in popular supermarkets such as Aldi, Lidl and Morrisons.
The latest statistics show that only three out of 30 items cost less in shops and supermarkets than they did 12 months ago. Some food essentials have jumped up in price by as much as 65% in just a year while vegetable oil and pasta are now more than double the cost they were at the same time in 2022, reported Lancs Live.
