Luke Williams lavishes praise on two-goal man following excellent performance at Wealdstone

Luke Williams has explained how pleased he is for two-goal hero Adam Chicksen after his double sent Notts County on their way to an emphatic 6-1 win over Wealdstone.

The Zimbabwean scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season with two brilliantly drilled strikes, bettering his entire goal tally in a Magpies shirt after scoring just three goals in the entirety of his Meadow Lane career.

It was an accomplished performance from Luke Williams' side, with the only negative seeing Richard Brindley sent off following a second bookable offence midway through the second half.

But speaking after the game, Williams highlighted the effort the 31-year-old puts in everyday during training and explained that hard work was evident with his two goals this evening.

"I am so pleased because Chicks is one of the guys that is so good in so many different things," Williams said.

"The way he trains, the way he gives information to other people, the way he looks after his body, he is so important to us.

"And for him to score, it just highlights how well he is going about his work."

Both Matty Palmer and Geraldo Bajrami opened their accounts for the season, with the pair forming a brilliant understanding in the absence of Jim O'Brien.

And the Magpies boss was again pleased with their contribution at Grosvenor Vale, revealing he has told the Notts number 18 to get forward more often as he is a real danger inside the penalty area.

"I am really pleased because I have been trying to push Matty into the box at the right time, and it is a really exciting to see Matty in the box because he has really quick feet," Williams added.

"He doesn't need any back lift, as you saw for his goal, he dug the shot out and it's really exciting.

"He also had a penalty appeal where he makes a brilliant movement into the box.

"Baj, he drives forward and when he goes forward, you know he is going with a purpose because he is a beast of a man, and he deserved his goal because he was in the right position at the right time."
