Luke Williams explains Aaron Nemane absence from Notts County squad

Luke Williams has explained that Aaron Nemane's absence from Notts County's 0-0 draw with Yeovil Town was not due to a specific injury concern.

The 25-year-old has not featured for the Magpies in their last two fixtures, with Tobi Adebayo-Rowling deputising at right-wing back during that time.

It has been a brilliant start to the season from the Frenchman, featuring in 16 of Notts' 20 games so far this campaign, having missed the opening two games through suspension from the 2021/22 season.

Nemane made just 22 appearances under Ian Burchnall last season, operating in a much more advanced position to what we have seen from him this season.

And Williams revealed after the game that the influx of involvement has taken its toll on the full-back, explaining he felt it was the right time to take Nemane out of the firing line as he looks to fire him back to full fitness during the 13-day break.

"Aaron is hanging on to his body not in a way like he is injured, but he's feeling an accumulation of how much he has played this season," said Williams.

"I don't think he has much history of playing this many games consistently, but he has done incredible and has been so good, but we felt it was the right time to take him out of the firing line a little bit.

"It was an opportunity to give him a different programme, when you are on the bench of course you can only do certain things because you may be required to come on the pitch after five minutes.

"And if you are aching or you are sore it and you worked really hard the day before, it is impossible.

"So, we have tried to change his programme a little bit to try and get him back to top form so that we can introduce him back into the team for our next game."
