Luke Williams has explained that he has not been in contact with Portsmouth concerning the vacant manager's position at the League One club.
The Magpies boss has been linked with a move to Pompey after it was announced Danny Cowley had been sacked as the head coach, leaving them in 13th position.
In the last couple of days, the Notts County boss has become joint-favourite amongst the bookmakers to take the reins at Fratton Park along with former MK Dons boss Liam Manning and previous Middlesbrough manager Chris Wilder.

The job he has done at Meadow Lane since joining the club in the summer has caught many admirers as his side sits top of the National League despite their 1-1 draw with Boreham Wood on Tuesday evening.
But speaking after the game with Luke Gallard's side, Williams was on hand to reassure the Notts fans and address the rumours linking him with a move away after just seven months in charge of the Magpies.
Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham, Williams said: "I didn't speak to Portsmouth at all.
"My day has been spent working here and for this club and I can't wish to be at a better club.
"I am very happy, I am disappointed tonight but this club is incredible and is now a huge part of my life.
"I have not spoken to anybody or had any contact from any other clubs.
"I don't see any reason why anything would happen, I haven't done anything. I have been here for a few months and I haven't achieved anything.
"I still have a lot to prove to the fans still and I am in a wonderful club that I respect the position I am in and I should not take that for granted at all and I have a lot to be grateful for and a lot to repay people."
In what was a disappointing night at Meadow Lane, the Magpies' lead at the top of the table was cut to three points following Wrexham's win over Bromley earlier in the evening.
But the result was overshadowed by a number of decisions made by referee Paul Marsden, with the official greeted with boos at half-time and full-time.
Several decisions were questionable on the night with one decision, in particular, adding to Williams' frustrations.
"For me, I am concerned because many times this season we get the first booking of the game and I think Boreham Wood made several more fouls than us.
"I don't understand why this keeps happening, but I am 99% sure that we have a stonewall penalty with Aaron Nemane, but between the linesman and the referee, they give offside when he is not.
"It's difficult, but it's a tough job and they make mistakes and it's very unfortunate."
