Luke Shaw makes brutal admission about Manchester United after 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa

Luke Shaw has admitted Manchester United did not deserve to win against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

United were defeated 3-1 at Villa Park and Erik ten Hag's side never recovered in the match after conceding two early goals. Leon Bailey and Lucas Digne scored in the first half for Villa and United were on the back foot following those goals.

Although Shaw scored a deflected goal just before half-time, any hope of a comeback was ended almost immediately once play resumed after the interval, with Jacob Ramsey scoring the hosts' third goal of the game in the 49th minute.

United were second-best across the pitch and it was a disappointing performance after they had gone nine games undefeated.

Shaw was critical of the display after the game and he admitted that United just weren't good enough at Villa Park.

"We lost the game in the first 20 minutes of each half, we knew they were going to come out, new manager and the crowd would be behind them," Shaw told the BBC. "In games like this, if you start slowly then we will lose the game. We weren't good enough.

"We always going to believe we can win the game, even at 2-0 down. We spoke about starting well in the second half but conceded again, then it's a mountain to climb and the game is done. We started sloppy, gave the ball away too easily.

"That is not good enough. We suffered today, we did not deserve to win."
