Luke Shaw explains how Erik ten Hag is improving standards at Manchester United

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has admitted that everyone within the squad is "enjoying" the start to life under new manager Erik ten Hag.

Shaw made the admission ahead of United's 4-1 win over Australian outfit Melbourne Victory. Ten Hag has been working with most of his squad for almost three weeks, taking charge of training for the very first time on June 27.

The Dutchman has made a winning start to life in charge, overseeing a 4-0 victory over Liverpool in United's first outing of pre-season on Tuesday in Thailand. He then recorded his second victory in as many games with a comfortable 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory.

Although he has only been working with his squad for a little under three weeks, Shaw, who will have ambitions of forcing his way back into the England squad ahead of the World Cup later this year, has been impressed with the early signs. He has admitted that the former Ajax boss has set high standards that he wants his players to consistently hit.

"I think he obviously knows what the team needs and he has his own style of how he wants to manage, but I think all of the players have taken it on board and are really enjoying it," Shaw told MUTV.

"He is very hands-on and takes a lot of the sessions; he is involved a lot. You have seen that if people are not hitting the standards that he wants in training he will make sure they know and I think that is good because it keeps the standards high.

"That is a good thing. But, like I have said, there is still a lot more to come from us and this is only the start."
