Luke Evans admits he 'wouldn't say no' if offered Bond role

Actor Luke Evans has admitted that he "wouldn't say no" if he was offered the chance to play the next James Bond in the 007 franchise. The Hollywood star from Pontypool made the confession on an appearance of BBC Breakfast on Monday morning.

He was on the show discussing his new album, 'A Song For You', which features duets with Charlotte Church and Nicole Kidman when he was pressed with the question. He was asked: "We've talked about things you have done, we've talked about things you are doing, can we talk about something you might be doing? Because there's a lot of speculation you might be the next 007."

The 43-year-old replied: "My goodness me, if one more person asks me this, I have no answers to your question, I don't know, it is just listen, my answer is and it will stay that I just feel honoured that I am part of that little group of actors who have been talked about to play this iconic role. Whoever it is, it is big shoes to fill.

"Good luck to whoever it is, who knows." He was pressed further and asked would he say no. Luke replied: "I wouldn't say no. I don't think anybody in my position right now would say no to that role, so who knows."

He admitted that there haven't been conversations about it, but said if he was cast he "could do the soundtrack as well, save them a fortune." Luke also spoke about his Christmas special, Luke Evans Showtime, which is airing on BBC One at 8pm on Thursday December 22, you can find out more about that here.
