Luis Palma Celtic wage hike 'revealed' amid transfer offer

Luis Palma is reportedly set for a huge wage increase should he join Celtic this summer.

The Honduran is believed to be a target of Brendan Rodgers, as the Hoops boss seeks a replacement for £25million man Jota.

It was reported earlier this week that the Scottish champions had submitted a bid worth £3.5m for the 23-year-old.

The winger currently plies his trade in Greece for Aris Thessaloniki.

He was a standout performer last term, scoring 13 goals and assisting eight in his 36 appearances.

It was said that he missed training for Aris this week and is expected to be absent from this weekend's game against Lamia as speculation swirls around his future.

It seems Celtic are confident a deal can be struck for the pacey frontman.

Should the transfer go through, Palma will be in line for a significant boost to his finances.

According to Greek outlet Gazzetta, Palma also has interest from two Saudi Pro League clubs but will reject £1m per year to play in the Middle East in order to continue his career in Europe.

They go on to state that Celtic are willing to pay Palma £500,000 annually. This would work out at around £11K a week.

So, should Celtic indeed be the next step in his career, the player would increase his salary eight-fold from his current wage which is said to be around £70K per year.
