Luis Palma Celtic transfer addressed by Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers has addressed Celtic's pursuit of Luis Palma.

The 23-year-old Honduran is believed to be edging closer to a move to the Scottish champions.

The winger currently plies his trade in Greece for Aris Thessaloniki.

The clubs are believed to have agreed to a fee worth around £3.5million, as Celtic aims to secure a replacement in the wider areas of the team for Jota.

Ahead of today's Premiership game against St Johnstone, BBC reporter Martin Dowden spoke with the Irishman.

The journalist asked: "You have been linked with another winger, I know you've already been asked about that, is there anything to add on that and is that an area that you are keen to strengthen because you do seem to have a lot of options in the wider areas?"

The Celtic manager remainder coy in his response, not being drawn in Palma's name specifically despite reference to the player in the questioning.

He said: "It's having that certain type of profile. We've brought players in that will come in over the course of time to be very good players for us. But ultimately we're looking at starters now. We want to bring players in who can come straight in and perform. It's definitely an area that we're looking at.

"Just starters for Celtic whatever competition we're in. We've done a lot of great work and making the squad stronger. But the idea was always to make the team stronger, especially losing top players like Carl (Starfelt) and Jota.

"We've still got a number of days left in the window and we hope that we can do that."
