Luis Enrique is a prime candidate for the vacant Chelsea manager role after Graham Potter was sacked following the Blues' 2-0 loss to Aston Villa. The club are yet to appoint a new permanent boss with Potter's assistant Bruno Saltor taking charge of the 0-0 draw with Liverpool and Frank Lampard appointed in interim charge soon after.
Enrique has been out of work since leaving the national team job with Spain following their disappointing World Cup campaign in Qatar. The former Barcelona manager has already made his love of the Premier League clear though.
With Potter appointed after Thomas Tuchel was sacked the next choice is vital for Todd Boehly and Co to build confidence within the fanbase. They are now looking for their third permanent manager within ten months of taking over at Stamford Bridge. Enrique is close to the top of the list.

The Spaniard has also won the Champions League as head coach and coached Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar through their best years as a trio in Catalonia too. Now, if he was to find himself at Stamford Bridge the challenge would be quite different.
Here, football.london rounds up the latest on his future.
Enrique an 'outsider' for role
After being listed as one of the favourites for the vacant Chelsea managerial job, Luis Enrique has now been listed as an "outsider" for the role in Todd Boehly's new short list.
As per the Telegraph, Enrique has not been placed among the leading candidates for the position with no further talks currently planned between the two parties. The report further states the former Spain boss is alongside Sporting boss Ruben Amorim in having an outside chance of being appointed.
Tottenham make Enrique decision
Tottenham will be stepping up their search for a new manager in the coming days as the club are set to contact Chelsea-linked Luis Enrique, according to a new report.
According to the Telegraph, Spurs are planning to make contact with Enrique over their vacant managerial position. Face to face talks were held between the 47-year-old and Chelsea earlier this month with Nagelsmann having his own opportunity to present his ideas in London last Thursday.
Enrique in London
Enrique travelled to London to hold talks with Chelsea, football.london understands.
Although the club are not yet close to appointing a new boss he appears to be alongside Julian Nagelsmann at the top of the list to takeover at SW6.
Premier League desire
The Spaniard has made his wish completely clear recently, saying: "I follow above all the Premier [League] because I would like to go to England to work.
"I wouldn't go to any team but to one that could do important things, which greatly reduces the number. I don't put my hopes up, really, because there are many candidates.
"I am lucky because my personal life fills me up. That it takes longer, that no offers arrive, well, it is what it is. I would go to a team with possibilities. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't work in Spain."
Enrique stance
Despite strong speculation linking Enrique to the Brazil national team job, Enrique is said to have his eyes on the Chelsea job, according to SPORT.
It's said the Selecao had been keen to discuss the possibility of replacing Tite but have now opted to wait until the end of the season
England dream
The Chelsea job isn't the first role in England that Enrique has been linked with since beginning his coaching journey in 2008. When Sir Alex Ferguson left Man United, Enrique was understood to be on the shortlist to replace him and then again in 2018 before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho.
One key dependent in Enrique's possible move to England is whether his wife, Elena Cullell, would be open to a move to the United Kingdom. It's been reported in the past that he has turned down jobs in the Premier League due to his wife's resistance to poor weather.
"I'd like to manage England at some point," he told FourFourTwo in 2013. "My wife wouldn't like the weather, she's from Barcelona and likes the sun. It would depend on the team and the football they played."
Next job decision
Enrique is already keen on finding a new place to manage at having only been out of work for just over three months. Fabrizio Romano writes: “Luis Enrique is a top coach and it’s normal to see his name around for many jobs. At the moment, he’s not in conversation with any club yet.
“What I can say for sure is that Luis Enrique wants to return as soon as possible after the World Cup and he’d love to be back at work in the next months, he doesn’t want to stop.”
