Liverpool are pushing to sign Porto star Luis Diaz before Monday’s deadline.
The Reds have made an offer believed to be close to £50m for the winger, who is also being tracked by Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
The ECHO understands that Liverpool are looking to pay an initial fee of £37m with a further £12m in add-ons for a player who Jurgen Klopp had identified as a first-choice option for the summer of 2022.
Diaz is believed to have had a £67m release clause within his contract, but Porto have been forced to take a financial hit after finishing third in their Champions League group behind Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, meaning the Reds have been able to see their bid accepted.

After the news was announced that Liverpool were in for Diaz, videos started to emerge of the 25-year-old’s best goals and performances in recent months.
What caught the eye were his goals for Colombia during last summer’s Copa America, where Diaz won the Golden Boot alongside Lionel Messi in the tournament.
In a video that has circulated online and on social media, Diaz’s goal against Brazil in the tournament’s group stage is one that has attracted plenty of attention.
Diaz’s stunning goal came as a result of a cross into the box, before the forward performed an audacious overhead kick which saw the ball fly into the net
His goal was so spectacular that the commentator for the game laughed as he reacted to the strike, while Diaz wheeled away to celebrate near the corner flag.
The goal put Colombia ahead in the match - before Liverpool’s own Roberto Firmino equalised for Brazil ahead of a winner from Real Madrid’s Casemiro.
