LUDHIANA: A carpenter was allegedly murdered by his colleagues over an old enmity at Gorsian Makkhan village of Sidhwan Bet on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as 34-year-old Ram Lakhan.
Raju Rai, elder brother of the deceased told cops that his younger brother Ram Lakhan used to work as carpenter in the area. He added that his brother had gone to work from home but did not return till late night after which they got worried and he and his wife started looking for him.
Brother of the deceased said that while searching for Ram, when they reached the Taath Nanaksar road, they saw that his brother was being strangled by some people and they were hitting him in his head with a brick. He added that on seeing that, when they raised an alarm, they ran away from the spot.
Raju Rai told cops that he came to know that his brother Ram was murdered by Harvinder Singh Bindri and Sandeep Singh Ghulla, of village Gorsian Makkhan. He added that all of them used to work together and they had quarrelled many times in the past and at the time of the murder also they fought with each other over something after which they brutally killed his brother.
Police officials said that after the complainant informed police, DSP Jagraon Satvinder Singh Virk and SHO Sidhwan Bet Sunil Kumar reached the spot and started probe into the matter. Police recovered the dead body of the deceased from the spot and got it shifted to Government hospital for post mortem examination.
Police later booked the accused for murder.
DSP Satvinder Singh Virk said that the accused were arrested on Friday.
