LUDHIANA: The Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries of India (ASSOCHAM) with support of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Knitwear and Textile Club organised a special event for Ludhiana industrialists about the business opportunities available through Sharjah Airport International Free (SAIF) Zone. Raed Al Bukhatir, director of SAIF Zone participated in the event along with prominent businessmen from Ludhiana and other cities.
Vijay Garg, chairman, Punjab State Development Council, ASSOCHAM, said, “There is little awareness in India about the free trade zones in the UAE, especially among MSMEs. This is one of the reasons why we have chosen Ludhiana to host our event so that we can create awareness among the industrialists and also provide support towards expanding business on global level.”
Upkar Singh Ahuja, president of CICU said, “India's bilateral trade with the UAE is expected to surpass $60 billion in the current financial year. India is the UAE's number one trading partner for non-oil exports, accounting for nearly 14% of the Emirate's non-oil exports. Geographical advantage of Sharjah and strategic logistics position makes it the idle location for boosting export to UAE, Europe and other countries. There are huge opportunities for Ludhiana’s industry to open business in the SAIF zone.”
