LUDHIANA: City hoteliers are up in arms against the recent decision of GST council to levy 12% GST on the hotel rooms having tariff of up to Rs 1,000.
According to businessmen, till now such category of rooms was exempt from GST, but with the imposition of GST, the room tariffs will become more expensive and impact the business as majority of customers would not agree to pay the increased charges. Businessmen are also of the view that this will lead to problems for the small hoteliers who will now have to register under GST and spend money on filing returns.
