Ludhiana: 44-year-old falls off terrace, 3 booked

LUDHIANA: A 44-year-old labourer died after falling off the first floor of a house at Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar, following which police booked three of his friends for causing death by negligence on Monday. The victim has been identified as Pappu.

A case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s relative, who alleged that the accused deliberately or accidentally pushed him off the terrace. He said Pappu sustained severe head injury and died. The accused have been identified as Tutun Chudhary, Santosh Paswan and Kulwinder Singh of Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar. The complainant, Vinay Pathak said that his brother Pappu worked in a factory and lived in factory accommodation. He said that the accused and his brother would often drink in the house. On the night of June 19, the accused and Pappu were having drinks when he fell off the terrace. The complainant said he suspected the accused of pushing him off.

ASI Dharminder Singh, investigating officer from Sadar police station said that it is an open terrace with no railings and Pappu was suspected to have fallen off in an inebriated condition.
