Lucy Bronze insists the Lionesses can still raise their game after winning the Euros.
England hero Bronze believes investment and further backing and investment can lift the women’s game closer to their male counterparts. She said: “There's not many teams that are fully on the level the men are at. If you look at Champions League winners in the men's leagues and what their clubs give them, the facilities, the training, the backroom staff.
“There's not any women's team that really has that kind of backing. So I think we can lift the level a lot, and I'm not just talking about England. Every nation could do that, every nation could improve including ourselves. So there's definitely still a little more of that mountain to climb. But the spectacle of this tournament was amazing. The standard was so high is all the games and so many of the teams.”
Rachel Daly says Sarina Wiegman deserves to be recognised as one of Europe’s top coaches - including all of her male counterparts. England full back Daly said: “She should be. She absolutely should be. Her stats speak for themselves. She's won two home Euros in a row. We haven't lost under her, touch wood.
“She's incredible. She'll never take any credit but you can see how she influences us. She's a calming presence on the bench, on the sidelines, in the changing rooms, in training. She's one of a kind and we're so lucky to have her.”
Ella Toone says the Lionesses’ Euros success is “absolutely massive” and also be a game changer for the WSL. England hero Toone said: “It’s massive now, it’s absolutely massive. We can’t forget everyone who came before us, but we’ve left the shirt in a better place for all the little girls growing up and we’re so proud.
"All we wanted to do was inspire the next generation and we have done and women’s football is getting bigger and bigger.
“I would like to think the WSL crowds will get bigger. I think a lot of people have fallen in love with women’s football this summer and that’s what we set out to do.
“So hopefully the crowds that we’ve had this summer we can get into our grounds at club level and some more fans at the stadium to be on the journey with us.”
