Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said: "What an amazing night for one UK ticket-holder who has scooped the giant £171M EuroMillions jackpot. This winner has just become the third biggest National Lottery winner of all time and the sixth UK EuroMillions jackpot winner this year alone.
"Players are urged to check their tickets and to give us a call if they think they are tonight’s lucky winner." Thanks to National Lottery players, more than £30million is generated every week for good causes across the country, making a difference in communities.
The EuroMillions draw takes place every Tuesday and Friday, a ticket costs £2.50 and includes automatic entry into the UK Millionaire Maker draw, which creates new UK millionaires every week, guaranteed.
The lucky Brit is the third biggest lottery winner of all time after last night's draw. Earlier this year J oe and Jess Thwaite from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, took home the prize of £184,262,899. Speaking about their win, they previously said: "The win gives us time to dream, which we haven't had before. We've had one week to think about this and we now have time to share lots of experiences and go on adventures with our family and friends."
The biggest-ever EuroMillions win was £195 million from the draw on July 19 and was claimed just a day later. The winner chose to remain anonymous. Alongside this record-breaking win, the £109 million jackpot from the draw on February 4 was also claimed a few days later, with the winner again remaining anonymous.
