A lucky driver escaped uninjured after a van was left half-crushed in a crash on the M62.
Police shared pictures of the aftermath of the crash, which happened on the westbound carriageway of the motorway near Warrington yesterday morning. The photos showed the back of a red van left completely crushed.
The van was one of two vehicles involved in the smash, which blocked the road between junction 11 for Birchwood and junction 10 for the Croft Interchange at around 6am. Officers said no-one was injured.
Following the incident, the westbound carriageway was fully blocked off causing huge delays. Two lanes were reopened after some time, but long delays of up to an hour remained.
The road was fully reopened again by around 9am. An initial tweet posted by Highways England yesterday said: "The #M62 is currently blocked westbound between J11 -J10 near #Warrington due to a multi-vehicle collision. @NWmwaypolice and #TrafficOfficers are in attendance.
"30 min delays on approach so please allow extra time for your travel and seek an alternative route if possible."
Alongside the photos of the aftermath, a North West Motorway Police officer wrote on Twitter: "Some photographs of the scene from the RTC this morning on the M62, thankfully no injuries."
