LUCKNOW: Amid showers across the city, residents who visited Sanatkada house on Saturday were in for a poetic treat. The event, Shayargasm, brought Urdu 'shayari' and 'mausiqi' to the stage during the Saavan ki Bahaar festival. The three-day event is being organised by Sanatkada, Lucknow Bioscope and Naimat Khana.
Shayargasm was organised in collaboration with Mirchi Love in which RJ Tashi, Jaani Lakhnavi, Shadab Javed and Shailendra tried to bridge the gap between the youth and the age-old tradition of Urdu Adab with shayari and mausiqi based on Saavan. People also enjoyed a jamming session by Aprark and Ayush.
The 'Sounds of Saavan' installation designed by Tauheed Haider and engineered by Manas Seth was a major attraction. Conceptualized keeping in mind the visual and aural experiences of the month of Shravan, the installation was in two parts. It had instruments made of scrap such as bamboo, timber, jute, coconut shells and steel, creating different sounds when played with. The fibre 'sky' above detects motion of any person and the response is lightning and thunder, triggered by sensors.
Visitors learned the art of lehariya dyeing during a workshop by Saman Habib and Jaazbia Khan.
