NEW DELHI: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) entered the IPL auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with a tight budget. Each franchise had an initial purse of Rs 120 crore before the retention window, and LSG spent Rs 69 crore to retain their core players, leaving Rs 51 crore for the auction.
Key retentions included Nicholas Pooran (Rs 21 crore), Ravi Bishnoi (Rs 11 crore), Mayank Yadav (Rs 11 crore), along with uncapped talents Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan, retained for Rs 4 crore each.
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, currently playing in the Test series in Australia, has been signed by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after a heated bidding war involving Sunrisers Hyderabad and his former team, Delhi Capitals (DC). Starting at a base price of ₹2 crore, Pant’s bid soared to a record-breaking amount.
This marks the first time Pant will play for a franchise outside his hometown of Delhi, where he has been a cornerstone player. LSG’s monumental bid shattered the previous IPL auction record set last year when Australian pacer Mitchell Starc was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹24.75 crore.
