LUCKNOW: After nine students of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University (RMNLU) tested Covid-19 positive last week, the University has decided to conduct two editions of the examination.
Students can appear in the ongoing examination while those who are not well or don’t want to appear for the exam amid fear of getting infected can appear in the second edition of semester examinations to be held in July.
Also, the University has given the freedom to students to appear in both or in any one exam. For those appearing in both examinations, the marks of the best among the two will be considered.
“After nine law students tested positive, some of our students have been demanding postponement of the exam, while there were others who didn’t want examination postponement as it would impact their internship plans. Hence in students’ interest, RMLNLU has decided to give two opportunities to students to write an exam. Even if they skip this exam and appear in the July one, it won’t be considered as a back exam but a normal semester exam,” said University spokesperson Alka Singh.
She said since the university is governed by the Bar Council of India we cannot entertain students’ demand for the online exams without BCI’s direction hence we have given them an option of two exams. The exam will be held in offline mode only and will be for 3.5 hours.
The ongoing examination will be held till April 30 while the schedule of the July examination will be shortly announced, she added.
