LUCKNOW: The time has come to mask up again and follow Covid protocols, especially if you are living in Aliganj, Chinhat, Alambagh and Indiranagar, as these areas have reported most Covid-19 cases in the city in the past 15 days.
Aliganj makes up for almost 15% (216) of the total number of Covid cases (1,431) reported in the city in the period between June 10 and June 24. Chinhat with 191(13%) cases follows closely in second place. Alambagh is in third place with 178 cases (12%) and Indiranagar in fourth place with 149 cases (10%). Old City has also reported 139 (9%) cases.
District surveillance officer (DSO) Dr Milind Vardhan said, "Most cases have come from Aliganj because it is the largest urban community health care centre that covers areas including Nishatganj, Mahanagar, New Hyderabad, Jankipuram, IIM Road and even some urban parts of Bakshi Ka Talab. A large population comes under it."
He further said that Aliganj also has many schools, coaching centres and other educational institutions.
Chinhat, where the second-largest number of cases have been reported, includes many areas on the outskirts of the city such as Gomtinagar, Gomtinagar Extension and Khargapur Road," said DSO. Most patients testing positive fall under two categories: those in contact with positive patients and those with travel history. "We are making sure that those testing positive isolate themselves," said Dr Milind.
