LUCKNOW: A 70-year-old heart specialist in Lucknow placed an ad in the matrimonial classifieds of a leading English daily published from Lucknow seeking a suitable match for himself. He got a response from Florida-based Krishna Sharma, a 'marine engineer'.
Soon, Krishna told the doctor that she was shifting to India and that she was shipping South African gold worth 70,000 US dollars to an agency in Lucknow to avoid any hassles. By the time the doctor realized that he had been taken for a ride, he had transferred over Rs 1.8 crore to Krishna for excise, shipping, air-ticket and other duties to ‘help her settle in India’.
