Lucknow: 318 test Covid-19 positive but 441 also recover in 24 hours

LUCKNOW: At least 318 more people tested Covid-19 positive in the city on Friday, taking the tally of the third wave that started on December 22 to 55,600.

About 441 patients also recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours. Overall 52,862 patients, who contracted infection in the third wave, have recovered so far. As a result, the number of active cases as on Friday evening was 2,738. The death toll in the third wave has been 35 till date.

Fresh cases on Friday included three healthcare workers, who were tested after developing influenza-like-illness. Highest 62 cases were reported from Chinhat, followed by Aliganj 46, Alambagh 27, Indiranagar 26 and Sarojini Nagar 17. The remaining cases were from other parts of the city.

Meanwhile, at least 21,518 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 in Lucknow on Friday. As many as 9,124 people received the first dose, 10,471 got the second and 1,923 received booster doses.

OT closed for 3 days after patient positive: Balrampur Hospital’s ophthalmology operation theatre was closed for three days on Friday after a patient contracted Covid infection after a surgery. Hospital administration has ordered fumigation for the next three days, said chief medical superintendent Dr GP Gupta.
