Luckless Celtic loanee Tilio in tears as he suffers another cruel injury setback

Luckless Marco Tilio has suffered another cruel injury blow on loan at Melbourne City.

The Australian international, 23, is on loan in the A-League from Celtic and was forced off for Melbourne City against Western United this morning.

Tilio had started for City but hobbled off the pitch in the first half with a suspected hamstring problem.

The Celtic midfielder couldn't continue with 38 minutes on the clock as he clutched his left leg before leaving the pitch.

Tilio - who signed a five-year deal at Celtic last summer - was visibly emotional after the injury issue as he appeared to be in tears as he hid his face before walking off the pitch.

The playmaker was supporters by his team-mates after the injury with Tilio having struggled for fitness in recent history.

Tilio had faced injury problems at Celtic before being sent on loan to Melbourne City in January.

The 23-year-old played three times before being ruled out with a hamstring issue and played just once off the bench before again facing time on the sidelines as he was plagued by fitness struggles.

Tilio started all three of Melbourne City's matches this season - playing he full 90 against both Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory.

However, he now faces another spell on the treatment table in a challenging period for the player.

Melbourne City have vowed to provide an injury update on Tilio and Andrew Nabbout after they went off injured in the win over Western United.

A statement read: "Two goals in two games for Andrew Nabbout.

"He unfortunately left the pitch through injury moments after scoring.

"We'll provide an update on both him and Marco Tilio as soon as we can."
