Lucas Torreira’s agent claims Arsenal are ‘angry’ about failed January move for Dusan Vlahovic

Pablo Bentancur, the agent of Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, has revealed the club are “angry” about missing out on Dusan Vlahovic over the course of the January transfer window.

The Serbian striker, who scored 17 goals in 21 Serie A games before his big money move to Juventus, was strongly touted as a genuine transfer target for Mikel Arteta’s side amid their search for a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Ultimately, Vlahovic joined Fiorentina’s bitter rivals Juventus for around £63m, following a long list of players to have crossed the divide, such as Roberto Baggio and Federico Chiesa. In the two games he’s played for the Old Lady since, the 22-year-old has scored once.

Arsenal endured a slow January transfer window and did not manage to bring anyone in despite allowing a number of players to leave with the lack of a striker evident in some of their recent games.

Speaking to Sport890, Bentancur hinted at Arsenal’s anger that a deal could not be completed.

“Now, Arsenal are a bit angry because they wanted Vlahovic,” he said.

“Fiorentina wanted to sell him, but the agents said he had to go to Juventus.”
