Lucas Moura still seen as ‘fundamental’ at Tottenham ahead of Champions League return, says player’s agent

Tottenham forward Lucas Moura is seen as “fundamental” to the club’s plans next season, according to the player’s agent.

The signing of Dejan Kulusevski pushed the 29-year-old down the pecking order during the second half of last season, with Moura only afforded five Premier League starts following the Swede’s arrival.

Despite boasting one of the most prolific attacks in Europe as it is, Spurs boss Antonio Conte is keen on more signings this summer.

Brazilian duo Richarlison and Raphinha of Everton and Leeds United are both targets and, ideally, Conte would like one signed before his squad jet off to Asia for a pre-season tour on July 9.

Quite where more arrivals would leave Moura remains to be seen and the player himself – responsible for perhaps the club’s greatest night in the modern era – recently cast doubt on his long-term future in north London.

Still, speaking to Globo Esporte, Junior Pedroso said: “Tottenham don’t give up Lucas for the season, they see him as a fundamental piece for the Champions League.”
