Lucas Moura, Doherty, Skipp - Tottenham injury news and return dates ahead of Leicester clash

Tottenham are back in Premier League action this weekend after a one week break. All Premier League matches and all football across the country was called off last weekend after Her Majesty The Queen sadly passed away at the age of 96.

Spurs have been in action since then, although supporters may wish they hadn't been, as they lost 2-0 to Sporting CP in the Champions League on Tuesday. Two late goals condemned Spurs to defeat in Lisbon.

They will be hoping to bounce back this weekend, though, and looking to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign. In their way stand Leicester City, a side who have struggled to get going this season so far and sit bottom of the table after six games.

So what sort of squad does head coach Antonio Conte have to take into the Saturday evening kick-off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium? football.london takes a look at the latest injury news...

Matt Doherty

The Irishman has been working his way back to full fitness since a lengthy spell on the sidelines after rupturing his medial collateral ligament towards the end of last season. Emerson Royal has been preferred at right-back so far this season as Doherty recovers match fitness.

Doherty has played just seven minutes of football this season, and fans have been calling for him to be given his chance, although Conte has admitted he is very happy with Emerson this season. Conte explained the situation when asked about Emerson's minutes during his pre-match press conference.

He said: "In this first part of seven (eight) games, we had players like Matthew that had a serious injury, and I said in the past that he is struggling a bit to come back the player I knew last season. For sure now he is improving a lot, and I am sure now there is the international break, he will have the possibility to have two games with the national team, and then he will come back, and for sure I am I will have the possibility to have another rotation with him."

Oliver Skipp

Skipp is a player who was starting to assert himself under Conte last season before injury struck. A foot injury kept him out of the second half of last season and Rodrigo Bentancur, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have struck up a good partnership since.

Skipp is back and has been in matchday squads so far this season, without playing a minute. And Conte admitted he is being careful with the young Englishman.

He said: "Skippy was injured with a serious injury. Don't forget Skippy played his last game in January, maybe December. Another player we have to recover from injury."

Lucas Moura

Lucas Moura has not played since the 2-2 draw with Chelsea in August. He picked up a calf injury that has kept him out of action since, and we will not be seeing him until at least after the international break.

Speaking about his squad for the Leicester game, Conte said: "The same squad, only Lucas is not available. The other players are all available for the Leicester game."

Conte had previously said that he was looking to use the international break to get Lucas up to full recovery and integrate him back into the squad thereafter.
