Loyola Chicago’s men’s basketball team took 1.8 seconds very seriously Monday night.
On a long inbound pass down 77-75 to Fairleigh Dickinson, Ramblers junior guard Sheldon Edwards made a last-second bucket to force an overtime with the Knights.
It’s the kind of last-ditch play from a team before the buzzer that usually goes for naught. Though, Edwards did such a fantastic job of pulling down the ball and setting himself up calmly to knock down the game-tying bucket just before the clock hit all zeroes.
Loyola Chicago has never been afraid of defying the odds, but they need to think about poor Sister Jean before packing in too many heartstopping moments this season.

What an incredible play by Edwards to force overtime. His late-game heroics set the Ramblers up for an 88-82 home OT victory to start the season.
He also led the team with 19 points on the night, while senior forward Tom Welch had a double-double with 15 points and 15 boards.
