Low-pressure system over Bay of Bengal to bring heavy rain in south Bengal: IMD

Kolkata: A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal will bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to some districts of south Bengal till July 6, potentially causing waterlogging in low-lying areas in the region, the IMD said on Friday.

It said that very heavy rain is very likely over South 24 Parganas, Purba and Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura and Howrah districts on July 5.

The low pressure system over northwest Bay of Bengal, which is likely to get more marked during the next two days, will bring heavy rain in most districts of south Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
