Love Islander reveals strict villa rules – including 'snack rations' and 'booze limits'

Former Love Island star AJ Bunker has revealed the bizarre villa food and drink rules set out by ITV producers – including booze limits and banned snack times.

The reality TV contestant, 30, spoke of strict mealtime guidelines during her time on the seventh season of the hit-ITV2 dating programme.

She touched on some of the welfare techniques used by telly bosses for Islanders sitting in the sun all day, as well as her disappointment at 'snack times'.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror ahead of the new Winter Love Island series, AJ disclosed that contestants are "not allowed unhealthy snacks" during the day.

Full name Andrea Jane Bunker, the telly star explained: "Producers would only give us them during the night, not every night though."

She added: "Every couple of days they would bring out some snacks like sweets and crisps. But they would put them in little bowls, and we'd have to share them out."

AJ said producers "rationed" contestants on "sweet snacks", admitting they thought bosses "didn't want us eating junk food in the villa".

"We were only allowed two glasses of alcohol a night and I thought I'd be able to just help myself to a packet of crisps, but nope, I wasn't allowed," she explained.

Speaking of yet another strict behind the scenes rule, AJ revealed that producers would sit with contestants during off-camera dinner time.

She told The Mirror: "They do lunch and dinner off camera and when we eat, we're not allowed to talk about anything that is going on inside the villa.

"So, we had to make the chat really basic, and they have one of the producers sit with you to make sure that no interesting chats are happening."

AJ says producers wanted to keep the juicy conversations "for the cameras".

Detailing yet another food and drink rule, she revealed: "Another thing, this is so random, they have a water bottle chart.

"They made us fill out the chart every single day, so the producers knew we were getting a good intake of water, which I don't think anyone's ever mentioned before."

She said producers would probe any contestants who hadn't drunk enough water and would "tell us to go and fill up our bottles".

AJ added: "So, they'd be checking in on us. I do think it's good though, obviously we're out in the sun so they don't want any contestants getting sun stroke."
