Love Island start date announced as 2023 winter series begins this month

Love Island fans, sound the horn - ITV have confirmed the start date of the brand new season of the dating programme.

The popular ITV2 show will restart for its second winter series this month. The series will begin on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

The series will see the arrival of new host, Maya Jama, as Laura Whitmore stands down from her regular position as presenter of the show alongside her narrator boyfriend, Scottish star Iain Stirling.

In total, there have been eight seasons of Love Island, with just one winter series airing in 2020. The winner of the only winter series was also the only Scottish contestant to have won, Paige Turley and her boyfriend Finn Tapp.

Could this be a sign from the Love Island gods that we could see another Scot take the crown? Only time will tell.

ITV posted the announcement on Twitter, writing: "We’re ready to crack on! Love Island starts 16 Jan at 9pm on ITV2 and @ITVX #LoveIsland."

Viewers of the show have been ecstatic at the news, with a barrage of excitement and support appearing under the post.

One Twitter user said: "Can’t wait see you on 16 Jan at 9pm on ITV2 #LoveIsland."

Another wrote: "I apologize for the person i will become on January 16th."

And a third added: "CAN’T WAIT!!!"

A fourth said: "Love island really is straight people drag race soon they’re going to release 17 international seasons per year, an all stars and vs the world."

More comments read: "Oh i will be tuning in."

And finally, one concluded: "I’m not on countdown, but 12 days and counting!"

Love Island will return to ITV2 and ITVX on Monday, January 16 at 9pm, and will continue every night after that except for Saturday nights.
