Love Island star Maura Higgins confirms she is 'very single' and gives update on past relationships

Maura Higgins confirms she is single after being linked to a UK footballer.

The former Love Island star was reportedly dating the 29-year-old Milton Keynes Dons footballer Connor Wickham in May after she jetted to Paris with a mystery man.

But she has now confirmed her relationship status during an Instagram Q&A on Wednesday - saying she is “very single”.

After a follower asked if she's single, Maura said: “This question just never stops coming up. Like every single Q&A I do, ‘Are you single, are you in a relationship, are you dating, have you a bae?’

“Like, yes I'm single. I'm very single. I couldn't be any more f***ing single. I may as well just go into Love Island again.”

And she joked she's 'f****d' because she "went for looks before and it didn't work, and I went for personality before and it didn't work".

Maura was also asked if she goes for “looks or personality" in a man, and she replied: “I went for looks before and it didn't work, and I went for personality before and it didn't work. So basically we're all f****d!”

Maura split from Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice in October last year.

Before that she dated Dancing With The Stars hoofer and fellow Love Islander Curtis Pritchard. The couple split around six months after leaving the Mallorcan villa, calling time on the romance in early 2020.

She then surprised fans when she entered into a relationship with Love Island co-star Chris Taylor, 31, former best friend at the time, in November 2020.

But the romance wasn't to last and the couple called it quits just a few months after going public.

During the Q&A, Maura also said she'd love to do presenting work for Love Island after a fan said she'd be perfect for the show.

Laura Whitmore is the current host having taken over from the late Caroline Flack.

But in February, Maura addressed rumours that she could be the next host of the series, sidestepping the question at the time.

She said at the time: “These rumours have been going on for years. There are always so many people on Twitter saying: 'Oh, I’d love Maura to be the presenter.

“But people don’t understand that they loved me on Love Island because I was so outrageous – the stuff that I would come out with was so vile.

“If I’m presenting, I can’t do that. I would have a script. I’m not going in there as, 'Outrageous Maura,' and to start ranting and raving.

“I’d be going in there to be a professional presenter and it would be completely different.”
