Love Island star gets engaged with romantic sunset proposal

Love Island star Callum MacLeod chose a very special moment to propose to his girlfriend Jade Olivia.

The aircraft engineer from South Wales was the first Islander to be dumped from the show in season five after he failed to couple up on Friday, June 7, 2019.

But he's been more lucky in love in the outside world - and he's now engaged to his girlfriend.

The star shared a sweet video of the engagement on his Instagram page.

The sunrise proposal took place alongside a scenic view as Callum got down on one knee and asked his long term girlfriend to marry him.

He wrote on Instagram: "WE’RE GETTING MARRIED!!! Last weeks sunrise was a special one… 08.10.22."

Friends and other celebs have taken to the comments to congratulate Callum on the exciting news.

Dr Zoe Williams wrote: "Ahhhhhhhhh congratulations," while fellow Love Island contestant Yewande Biala said: "Congratulations," along with three red love heart emojis.

Season seven Islander Rachel Finni commented: "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh congratulations you beautiful beautiful couple."

While Amy Day took to the comments to say: "Massive congrats to you guys."

During the clip, the 32-year-old looked to take his now-fiancé by surprise after she thought he was setting his camera up to take a photo of them in front of the stunning sunrise.

However, Callum ran back to his now fiancée and reached into his jacket and pulled out a ring.

Jade could be seen covering her mouth before Callum picked her up for a cuddle.

After putting the ring on Jade's finger, Callum ran back to the camera and jumped in the air in delight.

Callum found fame after appearing on Love Island for just five days back in 2019.

He was initially coupled up with the winner of that series Amber Gill but the two went their separate ways when she recoupled with Anton Danyluk.

Following his exit, Callum did an honest interview where he said he gave up his dream job to be on the hit dating show.

Appearing on ITV's This Morning, Phillip Schofield asked: "Did you give up a very good aircraft engineering job to do this?"

Callum replied: "Yes I did. It was honestly the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in my life.

"Not just the fact it was a good job – I loved my job as well. Obviously this opportunity comes to me, and it’s not one that comes to everyone."

However, it seemed that it wasn't impossible to go back to his original job, he said: "The thing is, I’ve got my trade, I’ve got my experience, and I left on really good terms with my company.

"My MD actually loves the show, and almost encouraged me and said, 'Go do it'."
