Love Island star Davide scolded by This Morning's Gino for ruining Italian dish

Gino D'Acampo scolded Love Island winner Davide Sanclimenti for his controversial approach to a classic Italian dish during an appearance on This Morning earlier.

Davide, 27, was a guest on the ITV show this morning alongside his girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, 28, following their victory on the popular ITV2 dating series last month.

The couple were interviewed by Holly Willoughby, 41, and Phillip Schofield, 60, who brought up Davide cooking a carbonara using milk as an ingredient whilst in the villa.

The presenters welcomed celebrity chef Gino, 46, to share his thoughts on the recipe, with him appearing via a video link from his home in Sardinia, where he was in a hot tub.

This Morning co-host Holly asked him: "I remember once suggesting to put a dash of cream in a carbonara and you went nuts. Davide puts milk in his. What do you think about that?"

"Milk and cream in a carbonara? Where did you learn that from? There is no milk in a carbonara," the chef asserted to Davide as he became animated with his hands.

Earlier in the segment, Davide had said he puts "like a shot of milk" in his interpretation of the dish, though he assured that he doesn't add any cream when he's making it.

He teased that it's a dish he makes for Ekin-Su after arguments, with her agreeing, commenting that he would make it "every time" they argued in the Love Island villa.

Gino and Davide appeared to converse in Italian at one point in the segment, before the latter added: "I'll let you try one day". Ekin-Su was seen laughing during the exchange.

Further teasing over the dish, Phil suggested ham and peas can be added to a carbonara, prompting Gino to respond: "Davide, don't listen to Phillip. Do not listen to Phillip".

Holly even proposed a "carbonara off" between Gino and Davide, recalling that Ekin-Su had taken part in a pancake making competition whilst she was in the villa.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub from 10am. You can catch up on previous episodes now through ITV Hub.
