Love Island has been hit with hundreds of fresh Ofcom complaints after viewers claimed Ron Hall was being bullied by his co-stars in recent scenes in the villa.
Love Island fans were left calling out a number of the contestants for ganging up on Ron in scenes over the weekend, when the South African villa exploded in fresh drama.
The Islanders were playing Chinese Whispers throughout the hour-long instalment, as Ron’s comments about his relationship with Lana Jenkins came back to bite him.
The ITV2 reality show scenes have now sparked an initial 245 complaints from unhappy viewers on March 5, before another 57 were lodged the following day - all relating to the alleged 'bullying' of financial advisor Ron, 25.
The scenes came hot on the heels of the A Couple of Sorts challenge on Friday evening, which saw the couples rank each other and proved a fraught affair.
The challenge prompted Ron to discuss accusations of game playing, as he spoke about his experience of watching Love Island as a viewer.
He said: “I thought the ones who have their drama nice and early and then get comfy and treat it like a holiday, they’re the ones who are probably like, they just cruise.
“I can see why people probably thought, ‘Oh Lana and Ron are just cruising through.’ I’m not bothered by any of that.
“As I know I’m not, otherwise I never would have made her my girlfriend, it means too much to me.”
The comments prompted a wildfire of gossip in the sunny climes of the South African villa, as Samie Elishi admitted she had taken Ron’s comments as an admission of his ‘game plan’ on the show.
The rampant gossiping culminated in Ron confronting Samie in scenes this week, as he told her he felt she had misunderstood what he said before discussing his comments at length with other Islanders.
Ron said: “I’m not going to lie, I’m quite livid, I’m just not going to have it… I’m not having a whole gaff think that after one challenge I’m playing a game.
“The only way that’s being perceived is by either you or Tom going away and taking that and making out as if it was said that way.”
As they continued to talk, Samie said: “All I’m saying is that's what you said and it can be perceived as weird and everyone in here has an opinion on it.”
Ron replied: “If they’ve got an opinion, say it to me… Please relay your opinion on the fact you don’t think I'm game playing because I’m not having nine other people thinking I’m game playing when I’ve got my girlfriend in here and people are talking behind my back.”
Samie then told Ron: “I can’t influence nine other people's opinion, I’ve had the chat with you, whoever does think it, you need to talk directly to them. I’m not doing that, I’m not cleaning up all of that.”
