Love Island’s ‘sexy dance’ challenge divides fans over ‘uncomfortable’ Gemma Owen scenes

Love Island viewers have once again voiced their discomfort over Gemma Owen’s antics in the villa, as they argued that the 19-year-old is “too young” for certain aspects of the ITV dating show.

The source of complaints on this occasion was a challenge aired during Friday night’s episode, which saw the female contestants take it in turns to dance around a pole and in a swimming pool to show off their best seductive dance skills. But some viewers thought that the challenge wasn’t appropriate for the youngest contestant on the show.

Several fans took to social media to complain about Gemma’s dancing, The Mirror reports . “Gemma should have sat out of that challenge,” one person argued on Twitter, while others went so far as to suggest the teen was too young to be in the series altogether.

“Gemma literally looks like a teenager because she is. Why is she on this show again?” one person asked as the scenes aired.

Another Twitter user replied: “I personally think someone so young shouldn’t be on the show.” “Seeing Gemma on a show like this is so uncomfortable to me,” a third viewer added.

It’s not the first time that fans have had something to say about Gemma’s age. A kiss between the 19-year-old and fellow contestant Davide Sanclimenti, 27, sparked almost 200 complaints to Ofcom due to the age gap between the pair.

But other viewers don’t seem to have a problem with Gemma’s age. One social media user wrote: “Slowly starting to like Gemma, she seems like one of the most mature in there.”

“I can’t help but absolutely love Gemma,” another fan added.
