Love Island's Paige Thorne admits she is 'really struggling' following stint on ITV2 show

Love Islander Paige Thorne, who appeared on the ITV2 show earlier this year, has opened about her struggles since finding fame and to combat it has stopped drinking alcohol.

The 25-year-old Swansea-born paramedic attended the London film premiere of new Whitney Houston biopic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody at at the Ham Yard Hotel in London, where she said how she doesn't like the person she becomes when intoxicated.

Paige, who has been the subject of many headlines over the last few months regarding her relationship with notorious bad boy Adam Collard, arrived at the event in a custom-made cream, shimmery paneled maxi-number and told The Sun: "I’ve been struggling lately, really struggling with who I am and have not been in a good place. I’ve given up alcohol, it’s been three weeks now, because I’ve realised that I don’t like the person I become when I drink."

She added, reports OK!: "You've got to love yourself, otherwise nobody else will.

And it seems she was having the time of her life at the premiere as she revealed she grew up listening to the icon. "I've had the best time tonight. I grew up listening to Whitney so I've loved every minute."

The Welsh star also unveiled her plans for a Christmas at home in Wales which will see her returning to her mum's house in Swansea. Although she revealed that it will be for the last time as next year "we'll be travelling, so it's very sentimental."

Paige rose to fame after appearing on the ITV2 show in an attempt to find love. During her time in the Villa, she first sparked a romance with rugby player Jacques O’Neil, who caused controversy when he shared a kiss with someone else during Casa Amor, before he quit the show due to his own struggles.

The 25-year-old then moved on with newcomer Adam Collard, who had previously been on the show for its fourth season. The pair seemed to be on cloud nine following the show's final, with them making their relationship work long distance for the first few months until allegations came out that Adam had flirted with other women on nights out and they soon split.

While she went on the show to find love, she said at the premiere: "I'm happy being single and I'd love to go on a girl's holiday next year."

This revelation from Paige comes soon after another former Love Islander revealed he too had chosen to go sober - Dr Alex. Read more on that here.
