Paige Thorne has revealed she almost left the Love Island villa with Jacques O'Neill when he quit. The Welsh beauty was booted out of the swanky Majorcan pad last night with current beau Adam Collard just days before the final.
But she told fans her time could have been cut a lot shorter had she went with her original plan to walk out with her former other half. Paramedic Paige and rugby player Jacques had been a strong couple until his head was turned during the infamous Casa Amor.
The couple had a rocky patch and though it seemed like they might get through it, Paige's head was then turned by bombshell Adam, which resulted in Jacques' shock early exit. In her last chat, Paige described her time on the dating show as "a rollercoaster of emotions" but refused to say she was disappointed to leave so close to the end.
She admitted she had a feeling Jacques might leave the villa and explained it was "really hard hearing him say it out loud".
However, she knew she couldn't change his mind and revealed she "fully supported his decision".
When asked if she had considered leaving at the same time she said: "It did cross my mind a little bit to leave with him, but things hadn’t been 100% all the way through, and the fact that they weren’t was what made me think.
"The fact that I stayed and I gave 100% to the experience and found something new and something more suited towards me just goes to show that everything happens for a reason."
She then said she believes Adam and her have been going strong since day one and are already making plans for their future.
"He’s coming to see me in Swansea and I’m going to Newcastle," she said. "We’re already talking about holidays and Christmas plans. I definitely see a future."
Adam also discussed Jacques' exit, saying: "I just wanted to make sure he was OK first and that he was doing it for the right reasons and not doing it just because it was me.
"Don’t get me wrong, I knew I wanted to be with the girl he was with. At the same time, we gave each other a hug before he left. I went up and shook his hand. We both know the score, we both know what we signed up for and I wouldn’t even be surprised if we ended up being mates on the outside to be honest."
The final of Love Island airs on ITV2 and ITV Hub at 9pm on Monday August 1.
