Love Island's Mehdi makes adorable confession about Whitney after brutal dumping

Love Island contestant Mehdi Edno has made an adorable confession about his love interest Whitney Adebayo following his brutal axe from the ITV2 dating show tonight.

French native Mehdi, 26, was given the boot alongside Mal Nicol after the public voted them the least favourite boy and girl this week as the shock dumping took place around the fire pit tonight.

While the islanders were less surprised about Mal being chosen by the public, given that she was one of the newest bombshells into the villa, each of the contestants were left gasping in disbelief as Mehdi's name was called out as the least favourite boy.

Following his departure from the show after he endured a rocky road with fiery Whitney, Mehdi has now made a lovely confession about his hopes for their future relationship.

Lifting the lid on their close bond after Whitney was left in tears following Mehdi's shocking villa exit, the French hunk said: "I’d say it was great. We had ups and downs but if we focus on the ups they were so good.

"Obviously it’s hard for me to leave now as we had something good going on but I’m hopeful we can make things work, for now, she needs to live her experience to the fullest."

Before the pair parted ways in tonight's shock episode, Whitney asked Mehdi if she could come to visit him in France - and the dumped islander is already planning their romantic rendezvous.

"We’d have to go and eat some snails! Of course, we would go to romantic restaurants, nice walks, go see the Eiffel Tower in Paris and do whatever she wants to do. I’d be her tour guide," Mehdi enthused after being dumped.

Before departing the villa, Mehdi also revealed who he would like to see win the show - and it's not Whitney.

"Ella and Tyrique, they have been a strong couple since day one - they always make the effort with each other," he shared.

"They are both so genuine and like each other. From inside the Villa it was so beautiful to see and I can’t wait to watch them blossom even more."

Love Island continues tomorrow night at 9PM on ITV2 and ITVX.
