Maya Jama was one of thousands of people to be left impressed by a DJ set in a Bristol corner shop. Off-Licence Sessions, a Leeds-based music platform, travelled to the South West at the end of last week to host an unusual rave in Bristol.
Scores of revellers crammed themselves into The Best Supermarket on Stokes Croft to get down to their set, rather than buying groceries. Instead of a retail assistant manning the till, a DJ and MC stood behind the counter as ravers enjoyed themselves on the shop floor.
Footage from inside the rave posted on Off-Licence Sessions' Instagram have been shared by scores of people, including Bristolian Love Island host Maya, who reposted the Stokes Croft scenes to her Instagram story. Describing their work, Off-Licence Sessions say they are "Taking over local bossmen’s shops up and down the UK with 140 and Grime sounds."

A video of the rave was also posted to linkuptv, an Instagram account with more than a million followers, with the caption "Only in Bristol". The supermarket party came just days before an illegal bank holiday rave was shut down by police at Sparke Evans Park.
More than 300 ravers descended upon the park to immerse themselves in blaring drum and bass music at the "Rumble in the Jungle" event before it was snuffed out by officers from Avon and Somerset Police on the evening of Sunday, April 30. A spokesperson for the force told BristolLive: "Officers have today (Sunday 30 April) been at the scene of an unauthorised music event in Sparke Evans Park, in St Phillips, Bristol.
"We attended at around 5.30pm where the event was held. We estimated more than 300 people were able to access the site prior to police attendance.
"A police presence remained in the area, with officers successfully preventing more people from entering the site. The music was turned off and the majority of people who were at the site have now left.
"We will continue to monitor the site."
