Love Island's Maya Jama has thanked fans after being left 'overwhelmed' by the reaction to her debut on the show. The Bristolian beauty made her first appearance as the new host of the show as the ninth series kicked off in South Africa last night (January 16).
Maya was announced as the next Love Island host in October of last year, shortly after Laura Whitmore revealed she would be stepping away from the hottest job in television. As Maya made her debut last night, Love Island fans were left blown away by her first day on the job, with the 28-year-old nailing the all-important slow-mo walk.
Scores of fans have shown their appreciation for Maya as she stars in her first season, with many directly sending the former Cotham School student messages of support. Tonight, as the second episode of the second ever winter series aired, Maya took a moment to thank fans.

Maya completely stole Monday night's show, with some viewers claiming that she outshines any of the contestants in this year's series. The star of the show looked jaw-dropping in a range of outfits, ranging from the sexy aforementioned dress to a summery red crochet co-ord.
Last night, Maya came to the villa with the news that a bombshell would arriving in the villa shortly, in the form of semi-professional footballer Tom Clare. In tonight's show, he had to make the 'tough decision' of who to couple up with, ultimately opting for Olivia, which meant TikTok star Will was left single.
