Love Island's Luca Bish's tattoos explained - from famous faces to grandad tribute

It would be hard to miss that Love Island contestant Luca Bish is well inked, but viewers of the ITV2 series might not have noticed what some of his many tattoos actually show.

The fishmonger, 23, has caught the attention of fans with his collection of inkings, with viewers having been intrigued by some of the sketches they have seen on his body.

He's previously revealed that many of them are "random," dismissing the idea that there's much meaning behind them - though a couple of them do have significance.

Fans might not be aware of just some of the tattoos that he has on his torso and arms, so we've put together a bit of a run-through of examples for viewers to get a better idea.

Luca revealed prior to entering the villa that his ex was a tattoo artist, stating that he became her "colouring-in book" during the relationship, as reported by the RadioTimes.

Torso

Some of the most prominent tattoos sported by Luca include a couple of animals that are visible on his toned torso, which features a butterfly, a snake and a scorpion.

It's unknown if there's any meaning behind the first two, though his family have revealed that the latter represents his late grandad's star sign, Scorpio, as reported by Tyla.

His chest area also features inkings of laurel branches, the letter 'M', a rose and the year '1995' - which confused some fans on social media because Luca was born in 1999.

The islander's family have however revealed that the date - which is on his stomach - is a reference to the year that his younger sister was born, as reported by OK! magazine.

Luca has drawn comparisons with singer Harry Styles, 28, over two tattoos. Luca's butterfly ink is in the same place as Harry's, whilst the pair both have laurel branches on them.

Right arm

Discussing his various tattoos with outlets including the RadioTimes recently, the islander said he prefers the inkings on his right arm as "there's a bit more meaning" to them.

They're said to include tattoos resembling late celebrities including singer Amy Winehouse, boxer Muhammad Ali and physicist Albert Einstein. Their meaning is unknown.

There is also inking of former Prime Minister and politician Winston Churchill. Underneath the portrait of him, there's a newspaper front page that's believed to be from 1940.

Further up his right arm, on his shoulder, Luca appears to have some kind of maths equations. It's unclear what it's a reference too, though it's been quite visible in the villa.

Left arm

Luca has admitted that he isn't as keen on his left arm and the tattoos not as visible on Love Island or in promo photos as some of those elsewhere on his body.

It's evident that there is inking of a lion's face though, with the islander having told the RadioTimes that it's many people with lots of tattoos end up getting the animal.

A close inspection of his left arm appears to show a white rose as well as a religious-looking figure in a prayer stance. There's also a silhouette of people walking together.

The new series of Love Island continues tonight on ITV2 and ITV Hub from 9pm. You can catch up on episodes from earlier in the week through Britbox as well as the ITV Hub.
