Love Island's Liberty Poole admits 'toxic habit' left her unable to recognise herself

Love Island's Liberty Poole has revealed she suffered a 'toxic habit' which left her unable to recognise herself.

The bubbly Brummie, 23, shot to fame on Love Island in 2021 before bagging a place on Dancing on Ice.

However, before she found fame as a reality TV star, Liberty admits she used to heavily edit her photos.

Speaking about the pressures of social media, she said: "'I look back on my old photos and I now realise how much I used to edit my waist and my face, it didn't look like me.

"When I saw myself on TV and then my photos, it was like I had body dysmorphia. I got into editing my photos where it didn't look like me anymore.

"I used to be a size 6-8 before going on the show, it was the skinniest I'd ever been in my life, but I still edited my waist to be smaller. I didn't even look normal", reports DailyMail.

The influencer says she's put on weight since leaving the villa and admits she has been tempted recently to edit her photos.

However, Liberty claims she resisted, saying she wants to squash beauty standards.

She said: "Still to this day I feel like I stand out and I'm a bit different, but I want to encourage girls to embrace themselves and be a positive role model on social media."

Last year Liberty bravely shared the abuse she'd been getting online from keyboard warriors, saying some had cruelly told her she had a "big tummy".

Addressing the incident on Instagram, she said: "I still get trolling to this day. I posted on TikTok the other night and I still get trolling where people say I've got a big tummy. You still get insecurities, but you've got to believe in yourself and not let it bother you."

The reality TV star shot to fame on Love Island alongside ex-boyfriend, Jake Cornish.

The pair made history on the show when they became the first couple to quit together.

Liberty told Jake she didn't think they were right for each other, and that she felt as though he did not love her for who she was.

Speaking about her decision to best pal Kaz, the former Nandos waitress said: "I had to walk away from a situation which, if I stayed in it, would have eroded my sense of self. I knew that this is what it means to choose yourself."
