Love Island star Layla Al-Momani has revealed that she has alopecia, with her mentioning it in a video this week.
Layla, 28 - who appeared on the latest series of the ITV2 dating show recently - has been interacting with fans on social media since being dumped from the villa last month.
She took part in a Q&A with her followers on Instagram earlier this week and was asked about various aspects of her life, including a fan sending in a question about her hair.
They wanted recommendations on products that she uses for it and complimented the former islander by saying that her hair looks "so shiny and healthy".
In a video, Layla responded: "I'm so gassed by this because whenever people compliment me on my hair it means so much cause I have alopecia. I'll put photos after so you can see what actually happened."
As reported by the Sun, Layla followed up by sharing an old photo of her scalp, showing visible hair loss on the top of her head.
The outlet reports that after being praised for her bravery, Layla admitted to her followers that she hadn't always as confident and would hide her hair loss in the past.
Alopecia UK states that alopecia "simply means hair loss". It adds that if a person has more hair loss than is normal for them, they are experiencing some type of alopecia.
The NHS states that most hair loss is temporary and will grow back, though notes that some types of hair loss are permanent.
Layla has since been asked by a follower if she could talk more about her hair, with the reality TV star responding by saying that she would try to help others over it.
She said: "Yes honey. A few people have been asking for advice on Alopecia. I'll help as much as I can from my experience with it but I'm no doctor or professional".
She suggested that she would post more about her experience soon.
Layla had appeared on Love Island during the Casa Amor week of the popular ITV2 reality show. During her time in the villa, she shared a kiss with islander Will Young, 23.
He however chose to remain coupled up with Jessie Wynter, 26, upon her return to the villa, which meant Layla ended up being among those dumped in a tense recoupling.
She however briefly appeared in a subsequent episode which saw her meet up with Jessie. Layla discussed her experience with Will before leaving the show.
